We at Candle Cocoon, llc® are extremely proud and joyful to announce our new line of Flutter Dyes™ candle dye! We believe that our Flutter Dyes™ are a superior candle dye! Our Flutter Dyes™ are made from the highest quality ingredients. They do not leave color residue at the bottom of your pour pot or in your candle! They resist UV damage. Although we still recommend a UV inhibitor for long-term storage. The dye base is 100% all natural! AND a portion of our profits from the sale of Flutter Dyes™ will go to help conserve endangered butterfly habitat! We will be supporting a local group called The Sand County Foundation. They received a U.S Fish and Wildlife award for Karner Blue Butterfly habitat restoration last year. For more information about this group or cause you can go to http://www.sandcounty.net. And last but not least our new dyes are just darn cute!
It seems fitting to start with Brimstone Yellow. Since the Brimstone Yellow butterfly is one of the first to emerge in spring in the UK. We will add new colors as we perfect each new color recipe. One Flutter Dye™ per pound of wax will give you a medium shade. Half of a Flutter Dye™ will make your color lighter and 2 Flutter Dyes™ will make your candle darker. Flutter Dyes™ can be combined for an endless array of colors!

Brimstone Yellow is comparable to and can easily replace our Sunflower Yellow dye diamond or Reddig-Glo’s Yellow as can be seen in the picture. The two waxes on the top are made using one diamond of Sunflower Yellow Dye Diamond (Yellow Reddi-glo) and the bottom two waxes use one Brimstone Flutter Dye™. The waxes on the left are soy and the waxes on the right are paraffin. The color differences are almost indistinguishable in our tests. You can see residue in the upper left corner of the picture from the Diamonds.
If you have any questions or comments please get in touch with us at info@candlecocoon.com. We hope you enjoy your Flutter Dyes™!! ~Lyschel
About the Brimstone butterfly----. It is found in Europe, Asia, and even north Africa, it is one of the longest lived butterflies, living up to thirteen months, although most of this time is spent in hibernation.
On the upper side the male is sulphur yellow and the female white with a greenish tinge but both have an orange spot in the center of each wing. They never settle with their wings open and from the underside the sexes are more difficult to separate but the female is still paler. Their wing shape is unique among British butterflies (although there are similar, closely related species in southern and eastern Europe) and is designed to act as camouflage while they rest and during hibernation. widely distributed across the southern half of the UK, it has been steadily increasing its range in the north of England but is limited by the distribution of its larval foodplants and is quite possibly close to its maximum possible distribution now unless their foodplants' range also increases. In Ireland it has a much more localised distribution. It is widespread across Europe, North Africa and eastwards to Mongolia Often the first butterfly to be seen in the spring, sometimes as early as January when hibernating adults are awoken on a sunny day, there is a popular myth that it is this butterfly which gave us the word BUTTERFLY, a corruption of butter-coloured fly.
